En 2022, sous le commandement d’Asanloo, les unités de l’IRGC présentes dans cette zone ont mené des opérations militaires contre des manifestants dans la région kurde d’Iran. En particulier, à partir du 15 novembre 2022, les unités de l’IRGC placées sous le commandement d’Asanloo ont mené de telles opérations contre des manifestants dans les villes de Piranshahr, Mahabad et Bukan.Les unités de l’IRGC ont fait un usage disproportionné de la force lors de ces opérations. Selon les estimations d’ONG, les opérations menées par l’IRGC contre des manifestants dans les régions kurdes ont entraîné la mort de 42 personnes depuis le 15 novembre 2022.
