Le Conseil suprême de sécurité nationale coordonne toutes les activités qui ont une incidence sur la défense de l’Iran et a piloté les négociations sur le nucléaire iranien. Ali Akbar Ahmadian a construit sa carrière au sein de l’IRGC et a dirigé le centre stratégique de l’IRGC à partir de 2007, où il aurait joué un rôle influent dans l’élaboration des politiques de sécurité et militaire, ainsi que du programme de missiles de l’Iran.
